We arrived in the evening (and in the rain) so it was extra helpful that Pat provided more accurate directions than our GPS, otherwise we would have been in trouble! The cabin is exactly as pictured, comfortable and CLEAN. We got rained in unfortunately; however, we went grocery shopping before we arrived and had everything we needed to make the stay worth while. Definitely would come back given the opportunity, thanks Pat!

Off the beaten path was EXACTLY what we were looking for. Pat was a very gracious host, and even had a bottle of wine waiting for us for our anniversary. We would certainly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a secluded getaway.

We had a great stay at the cabin in the woods. There were 6 of us and we had adequate space. The cabin is very nicely decorated and very, very secluded. It has the hunt club feeling, but with the extras that make it quite comfortable. The hostess was very accommodating for our extra needs. We plan to return!

I’m not sure where to start. What an amazing place and an awesome host. Make no mistakes, “Off the Beaten Path” is quite accurate. This cabin feels so secluded, even though you’re just a hop skip and a jump from the farm and a short drive into downtown Floyd. There is plenty of exterior lighting to help when you’re coming in after dark, or if the pitch darkness of the woods, isn’t your favorite thing. The cabin was great. The first thing you see when you come up the drive is the large deck. I wish we would have had even more time to just sit on it and enjoy the view of the woods and creek. We also got to get a glimpse of some local wildlife in the woods above the cabin. There’s a nice grill sitting in the back just ready to go. The interior of the cabin is great. It just makes you smile as soon as you walk in. Pat really took the time in getting all of the details just right. It just makes you feel at home. Because there was only 3 of us, we lived in the downstairs, but of course we did some exploring. The upstairs is simple and cozy. with plenty of room for 6 others. My toddler son slept on the couch right outside of the master bedroom and it worked out wonderfully. The bathroom is small, but has everything that you could need and is spotless. The towels are awesome. The kitchen was just the right size and immaculate. There’s a full size stove and refrigerator, a microwave, and toaster. The water tastes clean and fresh and the refrigerator has an ice maker. There is plenty of space to eat for a whole cabin full. Pat set us up for breakfast with a full selection of cereals, milk, and orange juice. The coffee/tea/hot cocoa/sparkling juices bar in the house was crazy amazing. I could have just left my wife sitting there at the table beside it and she would have been perfectly content. Talking about details, my son was so excited when he found the candy jar. It’s the little things, and Pat has thought of them all. The living room has comfortable couches, so we lounged together in the evenings when we were winding down. We did a lot of reading, but there is plenty to keep you entertained. There is internet access, Local TV, streaming and even a cool selection of games upstairs. The bedroom was a great size. The bed was a little more firm than we’re used to, but our last mattress purchase makes us a little biased! After one night, we were perfectly happy. The bottom line is that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Pat checked in with us to make sure everything was okay for us and it certainly was. We look forward to visiting Off The Beaten Path Cabin again. Thank you Pat for making our trip so special.

I joined Airbnb on a Sunday, and within a few minutes found what I needed in the “Off the Beaten Path Cabin”. The listing was very reasonably- priced… in a tranquil and private location, and that was just what our family needed during a difficult time! Everything was in perfect order, and all the amenities and little ‘extras’ welcomed us, making life easier during our three day stay. Pat was very communicative and available throughout, by email or phone, and when we slipped a wheel off the road during a rain storm, she and her family used their tractor to pull us out! Cooking out on the covered deck during the rain, we found ourselves perfectly dry, enjoyed a movie at night, and slept well in perfect comfort when air-conditioning was needed. We look forward to return trips to this cabin in the woods, and have recommended it to extended family and friends! Many thanks to the Pat and her family!

This is by far the best place I have ever stayed at. EVER. As a busy introverted mom who hasn’t vacationed in five years, I was craving quiet and Off the Beaten Path delivered just that. It’s literally the quietest place I’ve ever been. It’s the perfect blend of peaceful nature and modern convenience. Pat’s communication and service was stellar. It’s clear she spent a lot of time setting up this wonderful cabin. There were so many thoughtful touches in the decorations, the furniture, the fridge and pantry, etc. Really can’t say enough good things about my experience. It was like a dream come true. I’m already planning my next stay there.

Pat’s cabin was absolutely wonderful! I threw my best friend’s bachelorette party at the cabin with a few other girls, and everyone was obsessed with the cabin and the location! It’s quaint and clean, with all kinds of adorable personal touches. It’s small, but the space is utilized so well that it doesn’t feel that way. Pat left the kitchen stocked with coffee and cereals, which was a wonderful little touch. I can’t say enough about the location of the cabin! It was private and so unbelievably quiet. The girls went on and on about how peaceful the place was. It is definitely “off the beaten path”, so that was an accurate description. We were a little concerned about the directions (as I have absolutely no sense of direction, and was driving by myself, which makes reading directions difficult) but Google maps will take you to the road that you turn off of to get to the road the cabin is on…so further than you would expect. I didn’t have any trouble finding the place once I saw the turnoff for the actual cabin. There are not enough words to describe how happy we all are with our weekend stay. If you’re considering a place out this way, seriously, look no further. You’ve found it right here. We will definitely be back! Thank you, Pat!

What a great place to get away to and the dogs loved it! A bit of water and plenty of space for them to run. We enjoyed the home which is very clean, and provided well for our needs. I will be back when visiting my daughter at Virginia Tech.

This place was just what my heart needed. Was looking for a truly secluded place in the woods to get away (with my dog) and do some writing. I loved sitting on the deck in the evening/morning and realizing that all I could hear was singing birds and the creek just a few feet from the cabin. I enjoyed walking around the property and woods with my dog, taking in the beauty of nature and not encountering a single person (an introvert’s dream). I hope to return for a longer stay in the future.

Pat was a wonderful host. Everything was as described in the listing and perfect. The cabin itself is cozy, serene and we loved the large deck outside. Great secluded stay in the middle of the woods ! We crossed the tiny creek leading up to the cabin in our Honda Accord without any issues.

The cabin is a great place to get away – if you love the peace of the mountains, forest, creeks, privacy, you will love this cabin! It was very relaxing to sit on the porch and hear the creek, looking for wildlife in the surrounding woods, or walking the trail. The cabin is very comfortable, and provided all that we needed. The host was great – she was available if needed and responded to questions promptly. I would definitely recommend the cabin for a romantic get away, or a small family, although there are plenty of beds for up to 8 people. The area is great if you like exploring small towns like Floyd, or the Blue Ridge Parkway. We would definitely go back!

A nice secluded spot for families or couples who enjoy nature. Private location with walking paths through the woods. Close to many of the local artisans participating in the Floyd Artisan Trail event. The cabin was stocked with the basics for breakfast and coffee which made it nice after a long trip and not having time to pick up groceries for the morning. The cabin setup worked out well for two families, one with 2 small children.

We had another great stay this year. The cabin is always clean and in order when we walk in. We love the secluded feel of the location. Off the Beaten Path is NOT an understatement! It’s comfortable for the whole family. There’s plenty of room for relaxing inside and out. It has everything you would need to feel at home.

This was only a one night stop after a family beach vacation. Our only mistake was the one night! Next time will be longer. The only sound you hear is the the little stream, Everything was perfect and beautiful. Even our teenagers are saying shorten the beach vacation and stay longer at this cabin. It looks like there is so much to do in the area. Or a perfect place to read or walk or do nothing. The cabin itself is warm and cozy. We were thrilled.

Wonderful experience!! The place was lovely we stayed for Labor Day weekend and chose this place because of its proximity to the Hillsville Flea Market. There were 4 adults and 2 children in our group and there was plenty of space for everyone. If privacy is what you are looking for then you can’t go wrong here. Place was nicely decorated and my children picked at me over 1 of the deer heads on the wall being bigger than the ones on my wall. Would recommend this place to anyone and will probably stay again next year.

Pat’s place was a wonderful oasis! Beautiful, removed, with wonderful ambiance created by the creek running through the property, the deck, and the fire pit. We were also only 20 minutes from a most beautiful hike (Buffalo Mountain Trail) and 15 from the winery Chateau Morrisette. Great value!

This vacation was exactly what we needed, and the cabin completely amazed us! It was exactly as pictured, or better! The “extras” were so nice, like the coffee, cocoa, milk, juice, and much more! Also the cleanliness was remarkable! We would definitely go again!
