The place was beautiful. Perfect for star gazing and hanging out for a weekend to get away. The house was cute and cozy and we had just enough pots and pans to make dinner, breakfast, and bake desserts. I would highly recommend this place and come back.

The kids loved watching the cows and seeing the tractor go by in the morning. Pat & Bradley were extremely warm & weIcoming. They made sure all our needs were met their hospitality went above and beyond. It was so easy to relax there, we very much enjoyed our stay. Thank you!

    Absolutely adorable, cozy and welcoming!!!
Kids loved all the special extras they provided and their book/game nook was PERFECT! Exceptionally clean compared to other rentals for sure! Very peaceful, loved hearing the cows, beautiful creek and gravel lane to walk. Would love to go back when we have more time.

We absolutely loved and appreciated the attention to detail in this house. Everything we wanted or needed was there. Pat thinks of everything, there is nothing we would have added. This property has tthe entire package. It’s in an amazing setting that could be a destination in and of itself. The cottage is cute, warm, with all you need and lots of room. The cows, cat and view of Buffalo Mountain were wonderful. Pat is a fantastic host. There are notes everywhere to help you with your stay. The bedrooms were comfortable. The front porch is a must-sit. This place sets the bar VERY HIGH for all others.

    Beautiful and peaceful setting
This is the perfect place for a get-away. Wonderful views, cows mooing and quiet relaxation. We stayed four nights and enjoyed every minute. The owners have created a wonderfully decorated cottage that combines past history with modern accommodations. It truly felt like home! Excellent customer service with attention to every detail. We recommend this cottage to anyone without hesitation. While the cottage is secluded from main roads, it is easily accessible and not too far from several locations such as Floyd, VA and Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Loved it! Ron and Bonnie

    Serenity from dawn to dusk
My family and I stayed at the cottage in August 2016. It was immediately apparent that we would feel right at home. The decor was very tasteful and little touches are seen throughout the house. The Vaughns were extremely hospitable and were quick to answer any question we asked. The rooms were comfortable and homey. Although the cottage has a small footprint, it has a nice flow and plenty of space. Everything from the milk and juice in the refrigerator upon our arrival to the various k-cups available for our use to the lollipops in a big jar made us feel welcomed. The scenery is beautiful and the babbling brook next to the cottage is very serene. The cottage was great for family time. We look forward to visiting again when we are all in the area. Thank you to the Vaughn’s for sharing their family home!

This dear little home is a breath of fresh air. It is well off the highway and the only sounds one hears is the babbling brook, the cattle in the fields and the songbirds all around. In the evening we watched a doe and fawn graze in the pasture. Pat has done a remarkable job in making the house cozy and her artistic touches keep you moving from spot to spot to admire them. The common area was spacious enough for our family of 7. The beds were very comfortable. Our children enjoyed the scenery, the cat, and the games put out for their use. I enjoyed watching the light play across the Buffalo Mountain and the valley. In the morning I took a walk along the road and enjoyed the delightful rural scenery. My only regret was not being able to explore the local area due to time restraints. I would highly recommend this place to folks who like peace and quiet and a country atmosphere. The distance from the highway could be a deterrent for some, but for those who like to explore it is a pretty drive along some country roads. I hope to be back for a longer stay. Thanks Pat for sharing this home with us.

    Relaxing getaway
This vacation home was incredible. We stayed here in March, 2016 with a last minute reservation, and I am so glad we did. The property is rural and quite peaceful. The hosts were so thoughtful. They left a supply of coffee, tea, and hot chocolate along with cereal, juice and milk for breakfast. After a long day of driving, it was nice knowing that the basics would be waiting for us so we would not have to shop until the next day. One feature they also offer (and we did not notice when reserving) was noted on their website–they will pick up groceries for a modest fee so you can avoid navigating an unfamiliar grocery store altogether if you like. For a traveling family, this would be a huge bonus. We did meet the Vaughn family when we arrived, and they were quite friendly. They left their number with us in case we needed anything and when we did call, they were super responsive to our need. When we arrived, we found a binder with pages of information about the surrounding area. This was so helpful in helping us to plan our time there. We went and visited a beautiful mill in the area and then had lunch at Mickey G’s Italian Bistro in Floyd. We never would have found those places on our own, so having a detailed list of suggestions for places to go was really appreciated. And Mickey G’s was kind of tucked in out of the way, so we really might not have found it if we’d not been looking for it. The food there was incredible–we went for lunch then ordered pizza to take home for dinner. It was just that good. As for the home…we felt welcome the moment we arrived. The home was well-appointed and just beautiful. While this is a fairly compact house, the layout makes it feel quite spacious with room for everyone. We also enjoyed the simplicity of sitting on the porch, listening to the creek, and watching the cattle graze in the distance. Our family would definitely recommend this beautiful home to fellow travelers. Not only would we stay here again, we’d go out of our way to do so.
